Beschrijving:
Schotel op voetring, spreidende wand. Versierd in onderglazuur blauw met een kylin in een landschap met rotsen en een bananeboom. Onder op de bodem het vier-karakter merk Yutang jia qi (pronkstuk voor de Jade Zaal). Bruine rand. In het glazuur onder op de bodem zijn later de twee karakters Gong Sheng ingegrift, waarschijnlijk een eigenaarsnaam.
Evenals cat. 46{} is deze schotel van voortreffelijk porselein, maar hier is de krachtig geschilderde voorstelling conform de late overgangsstijl. De kylin is vooraan in het vlak geplaatst en krijgt alle aandacht. Duidelijk zijn de kenmerkende elementen van dit fabeldier te zien: het geschubde lijf, de gehoornde drakekop, de gespleten hoeven, de pluimstaart en de opstaande manen. De later ingegrifte eigenaarsnaam is interessant, aangezien het een bewijs is dat deze schotel in China (of binnen een Chinees-talige gemeenschap in Azië) heeft gecirculeerd. Het bruin van de rand is een onderglazuur ijzeroxyde. Het is onduidelijk of het een funktie had of alleen voor het visuele genoegen werd aangebracht.

On the base the four-character mark Yutang jia qi (showpiece for the Jade Hall). Brown rim. Later, two characters, Gong Sheng (possibly an owner’s name), were incised under the glaze on the base.
As the dish cat. 46, this dish is also made of excellent porcelain, but here the strongly painted representation conforms to the late transitional style. The kylin has been placed boldly in the foreground, making it the centre of attention. The characteristic features of this mythical animal are easy to see: the scaly body, the horned dragon-like head, the cloven hooves, the bushy tail and the full mane. The owner’s name was incised later and is of interest as it proves that this bowl circulated in China (or within the Chinese community in Asia). The rim is brown with iron oxide underglaze and it is unknown if it was functional or ornamental.
